    I strongly believe in preserving our neighborhoods and open space, limiting high-density development and reducing traffic congestion. With this in mind, I am making my pledge to Torrance Voters to:

  • Control Development
  • Reduce Traffic Congestion
  • Enhance Public Safety
  • Promote Green Practices
  • Demand Fiscal Responsibility

    • CONTROL DEVELOPMENT

    I have been involved in Torrance for many years and am currently a Commissioner on the Planning Commission and understand the nuance of what is allowed and is not. There are times that developments are allowed according to code, but may not be to the best and highest use of the land. This is where my strong communication skills, understanding of city codes and regulations will work to your advantage. It is imperative that someone like me with a full spectrum of understanding these issues represent you at City Council.


    REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION

    Traffic congestion is one of the greatest concerns of the citizens of Torrance. Traffic in Torrance will Trafic Jam never return to the level that it was in the 1950’s when I am in favor of the following to aid in reducing traffic congestion:

  • Synchronize and “restripe” lanes at Hawthorne Boulevard, Pacific Coast Highway and Western Avenue. These roadways are currently under the State of California’s domain and assuming responsibility of them will allow Torrance to better control their flow.
  • Complete the extension of Del Amo Boulevard to relieve East/West traffic congestion on Torrance Boulevard and 190th Street.
  • Create a Transit Center on Crenshaw Boulevard (near 209th) at the site of the old PPG plant.
  • Expand existing transit services and other alternative forms of transportation, particularly for students and seniors.


    • ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY

    Our Policemen, Firemen and City Services staff must continue to receive the necessary funding to keep their numbers strong and our city safe. I will work to ensure we do this.


    PROMOTE GREEN PRACTICES

    I like doing the simple things, not wasting water, driving a hybrid, consuming less so that I waste less, buying recycled when I can; every little bit helps. With your City Council I aim to work with you to have us all take simple, practical solutions to living a cleaner, greener environment.


    DEMAND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

    As the Vice President and General Manager for Torrance’s Hi-Shear Automotive for many years, I understand budgets, how to make them, work to them, and reduce them for the best possible gain of the customer. Working with you and the City Council, I will demand that our City is as fiscally responsible as it can be and will work to make our budgets work harder for you.
